Good news from the #MississippiDelta: the CARE Station gave away 1,000s of pounds of food to 100s of local families today.
It was a team effort:
Food was provided by the Mid-South Food Bank,
...and Clarksdale's Police and Fire Departments helped all day.
PeopleShores volunteers did too, giving each family info about the new ClarksdaleFreeMedical.org clinic -- offering free medical care to uninsured women and children.
Mississippi State Extension's SNAP-Ed added recipe cards and resources on healthy eating and how to stretch each bag of groceries farther.
Over a couple hundred cars waited hours for food bags lovingly handpacked by local volunteers, from Marthella of Messengers to "twin" BFFs Mrs. Smith & Mrs. Stuart.
A big virtual HUG to Charlie Estes and the entire community who came together to make this happen today...and work behind the scenes to do even more, every day.
♥️ If you can donate to the CARE Station, they do incredible work for the relatively little budget of $100k/yr. Some comes from grants & supporters like Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi ...and much comes from people with small pockets and big hearts. $100 buys over 800lbs of food, and every dollar keeps the lights on. IF you can't donate, they still appreciate the good vibes -- and it helps every time we all share their story.
THANKS for helping neighbors in need, and keep up the #GoodWork y'all!
